Grace and peace
(Titus 1:4)
Grace. Grace has been described as "God's unmerited favor." Grace is God pouring out His favor on unworthy sinners. Grace is God delivering us from the condemnation and death we deserve.
Jesus was Grace personified ("
for the Grace of God has appeared") (1) John chapter one describes Jesus as "full of grace and truth."(2) Jesus was grace incarnate. Jesus was Grace walking on earth and now the Holy Spirit is Grace in us.
Grace is not a stagnant quality-it is active! God working in us "both to will and do for His good pleasure"(3) and this is a work of grace. His grace teaches us what to deny and what to choose.(4) Grace not only suits us for heaven
it gives heavenly desires to our heart!
The Bible says that we can resist the grace of God (5) but it also says that when we humble ourselves to God-He gives more grace:
But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE." (James 4:6)
Grace and peace. This phrase became a common greeting among early Christians. Paul began all of his letters this way except for the letters to Timothy when he added the word "mercy." (grace, mercy and peace) (6)
Grace and peace: the order is no accident. Without grace there is no peace. First, there is grace. Then, the working of God's grace brings peace to our hearts.
Is your heart at peace today? If there's no peace, now is the time to humble yourself before God and let His grace do a work in your heart!
The peace of Christ is to rule in your heart.(7) Be anxious for nothing
let your requests be made known to God. And, the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.(8)
Father,
Your grace is amazing! We know that everything that is good about us is a work of Your grace. We humble ourselves before You and ask You to pour out Your grace on us
and through us to a world that needs Jesus.
As Your grace works in me, Your peace floods my soul. Let my life be a testimony to Your grace and Your peace! .In Jesus Name, Amen
